birch trees

The beauty of a crisp autumn day, leaves crackling underfoot, whistling wind.... collecting fallen birch bark, I think of how these magnificent trees survive and thrive and how their life cycle parallels ours.

As trees in a forest steadily evolve and age, affected by time and chance events, so do each one of us.  I use the aging of trees as a metaphor to confront and understand how I live the cycles of my life.
